Cedar Valley Nature Trail Paving Completion Ribbon Cutting & 40th Anniversary Celebration

On Friday, October 4th, several EISC members attended the Cedar Valley Nature Trail Paving Completion Ribbon Cutting & 40th Anniversary Celebration in Urbana. The Linn and Black Hawk Counties DNR leaders, a Linn Co Supervisor and Debi Durham from the Economic Development Authority all spoke at a crowded Urbana Community Center.

This event was a much bigger event than we anticipated. It was a very good program from people who have been working on or involved with the CVNT for 40 years. Paving the final section of the trail was a great accomplishment for one of the first in the Nation rails to trails projects.

The EISC members that rode from the Center Point Depot Trailhead were a bit worn out after the celebration. They went across the trail to Jams Coffee Bar to warm up with some great coffees before returning to Center Point. We agreed that we need to plan a ride on the newly paved section of the trail soon. Next season we hope to work out a ride over the entire length of the CVNT, if we can work out the details & if we find a volunteer ride leader.
