Greetings East Iowa Ski Club members. I am filling in with the VP newsletter message for our friend president Marty, who is entering a new phase of his recovery. The EISC Spring Picnic was a great time and summer is underway. The Spring Picnic had a good crowd and was a fun time. Thanks to Brad and Denise for providing their grill and hauling it to the park. This was the start of our ski trip sales and we are off to a good start with both the Steamboat trip 1/31-2/7/2026 and the Winter Park Trip 3/1-3/8/2026 both selling over half the spots. If you are interested in either trip, it would be a good idea to sign up before they fill up.
Among the highlights of the meeting was Todd Eadie passing out those cool EISC bike jerseys. Todd worked with the supplier on the design and the low cost made them a great deal. Todd is working on some other items using that design. Most of the comments and questions from the members came from our new board member Rosanne Van Cura’s review of the Adventure trips she is working on with the committee. Rosanne covered the possible bus tours, a possible cruise and she has been working with several bike and barge tour options. The committee has some decisions to make.
Coming up in late June and July is the EISC night at the ballpark on Saturday, June 28th, with fireworks at the end of the game. Thanks to Steve Simmen for running this event. Thanks to Cathy Dick, who set up the Cassville Ferry Sunset Cruise night for July 12th. The EISC Golf outing is set for July 19th outing at Lake MacBride Golf and Country Club. Thanks to Todd Eadie for his work on this event. The Canadian Rockies Tour and Alaska Cruise is set for Sept. 1st. We have 16 lucky members on the tour and 10 will be on the inside passage cruise following the Canadian Rockies Tour. This will be a great experience.
The board made a difficult decision to cancel our High Trestle Bridge bike ride due to dangerous heat conditions. The campers at Saylorville were already there and had a great time. We also had to cancel the Reedsburg/Wisconsin Dells Bike Ride & Fun trip. Thanks to Diane Anderson and Steve Simmen for their work on the trip, but it wasn’t going to work at this time.
The trip planning committee work continues. If you have any ideas for new trips, please contact a board member with the details and we will take it to the committee. Have a great summer and I hope to see you at an event, on the bike trail or golf course.
