EISC Night at the Rough Riders Hockey Game--Friday, March 13
The EISC was out in force on Friday, March 13th as 20 members enjoyed a great game between the Green Bay Gamblers and our own Cedar Rapids Rough Riders. The cowbells were ringing as the Riders came from behind in the 3rd period to post a six to four victory over the Gamblers. We had great seats mid ice to enjoy all of the action. There seemed to be a lot of fights on the ice during the match, with many players from both teams spending time in the Sin Bin. The Gamblers had bigger players and usually got the advantage when the gloves came off. However, it is the number of times the puck hits the net that determines the winner and the Rough Riders shot & skated to a tough victory.
The EISC crowd all enjoyed the game and the entertainment during the breaks in the action, especially when our Bill Clark won the singing for your supper promotion with an enthusiastic rendition of “Margaritaville”. Although several members commented that the cost of refreshments seemed to have increased since our last visit, it didn’t have a big impact on consumption.
A big thanks to Steve Simmen for running the hockey night and to Janet Stimson for ordering the tickets & managing the money. As popular as this outing was, I suspect we will run it again next season. It was a fun night and all know when it comes to hockey “we need more cowbell!”
