July 7 Bike Ride!

In response to members requests for more summer time bike rides we have scheduled a ride to Center Point and back on the Cedar Valley Nature Trail on Saturday, 7/07/18.  We are meeting at the Boyson Road Trail head in Hiawatha after 10:00 and starting out around 10:30.  We are planning to stop at the Sag Wagon in Center Point for lunch or a rest break.  We will return the same way to the trail head then it is up to you.  There was talk of riding to the way to the other Sag Wagon location on the lake, but the trail route run by the Parlor City Ice Cream Shop on 42nd street and that is usually it for me.

The trail is now paved all the way to Center Point, so if you ride fast it will be a quick trip.  Most will be taking a more scenic pace through Robins; stopping for a few minutes at Lafayette station after the tunnel; enjoying the countryside into Center Point and the Center Point station.  They have developed the station area.  There is now an historic cabin on the site that is kind of neat.  There are maps of the town on the kiosk that shows the Center Point Sag Wagon a few blocks away.  For those who may not want to ride all the way to Center Point there is an option to stop at the Big Lebowski’s down the street in Robins.  The trip to Center Point on the very flat and from the trail head is about 13 miles (Lafayette is 7 miles out) so the total trip is around 26 miles – however it doesn’t seem that far.  Going on into town on the trail are a few hills and there are a few streets to be crossed.

It should be a fun day for a bicycle ride on an easy route.  If all goes well, we will plan another unorganized ride in August.
